a dark comedy reenacting a real 1950 Taipei murder case.
Through humor, it exposes emotional betrayal, political and media manipulation
— where truth and farce become indistinguishable, spiraling into absurdity.
Male Lead: JHANG,JHENG-FAN
A 27-year-old broadcaster from Beiping, Zhang is eloquent, romantic, and flirtatious.
He falls in love with CHEN, SHU-LING, the daughter of a tea merchant, while secretly having an affair with his colleague Xu Mei.
Entangled in love and money, he orchestrates a lovers’ suicide pact.
After the incident, he collaborates with the authorities to fabricate an image of himself as a devoted lover.
Female Lead 1: CHEN,SHU-LING
A 22-year-old daughter of a tea merchant in Dihua Street, Taipei.
She yearns for Chinese cultural values and falls for JHANG,JHENG-FAN, only to be betrayed.
Manipulated into writing the suicide note, she becomes ensnared in the lovers' suicide case and ultimately meets a tragic end.
In the play, her spirit drifts between memory and the afterlife.
Female Lead 2: SYU,MEI
Xu Mei is a 23-year-old broadcaster from Shenyang who hosts a music program.
She aggressively inserts herself into JHANG and CHEN’s relationship,
even threatening him with a pregnancy in an attempt to drive her rival away.
